You know the news media are missing an important story when the only thing you read about it is complaints by renegade journalists about its absence from the airwaves, printed pages, etc.
So it goes with the story about “Dr.” Kermit Gosnell’s abortuary in Philadelphia.
Give the Republican-American credit. Blessed with a huge news hole Friday, April 12, we placed a big story about the trial atop page 4A. Better still, it was an Associated Press story. The AP is one of the major media voices that has been avoiding writing much about this horror story about terrible sanitary conditions in an abortion clinic, late-term abortions going wrong, and babies being killed after ceasing to be adjuncts to their “mothers” (or however the abortion-rights crowd splits the difference).
Also Friday, I encountered two op-eds by writers who feel compelled to explain why this story is newsworthy.
Here’s one. Here’s the other. I’ll leave it to you to figure out why these writers felt compelled to write these op-eds. Once you’ve learned even a little about this story, it should be obvious that it warrants a lot more attention than it’s been getting.
